Walking the Courageous Path Pt 2

Today I heard that a long time friend and mentor died on April 18^th 2012, Hillman Curtis.

He wasn’t a friend or mentor in the strictest sense, I didn’t speak to him on a regular basis, he wouldn’t know me if we passed in the street and I would be invited to any of his premiers. But, like many millions of budding designers in the 90’s, he inspired me to try website design, look at it in different ways, do better work and try different things.

I always meant to write a second part to Walking the Courageous Path and now seems the perfect time.

I was looking through my Facebook timeline this morning when I came across an article by a guy telling people what not to do when approaching people to buy services or products.

The guy had some good points but where I take issue is the following:

If Katie had bothered to do some research here, she would have come across some interesting figures….

At the time of writing this article, she currently has 618 ‘likes’ for her company on Facebook.
I have 2,802.

She currently has 8 testimonials on LinkedIn.
I have 233.

She currently has 1,669 followers for her company on Twitter.
I have 19,603

Does anyone else see a problem with her trying to sell me Social Media services here?!!

Is it karma, fate or just blind luck?

I just love the fact that when something major happens it’s nice to be in the right place at the right time, well sometimes.

I had a client meeting this afternoon and one of the guys who was there works for a great company, who for the time being will remain nameless, asked if I would like to come on board with them and help with their website workload? Now nothing is definite as yet but don’t you just love the feeling of when one door closes another opens.

Is it karma, fate or just blind luck? Who knows but it doesn’t half ‘perk you up’ when it does happen.
